Client Yamgaz praised Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan (QMW) joint venture for delivering six process modules for the Yamal Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project in Russia with outstanding record in HSE, Quality and timely delivery.
The six modules, with a total weight of approximately 13,000 tons, logged in an impressive HSE record of four million man-hours without a single Lost Time Incident, and were delivered in less than 14 months, 3 days ahead of schedule. QMW also managed to maintain no major Non-Compliance Record at sail-away time.
The modules were completed under QMW's contract with Yamgaz, a joint-venture between Technip, JGC and Chiyoda. They were built using an innovative sub-modules construction methodology made possible by QMW's state-of-the-art fabrication facilities including the mega-module assembly shop in Qingdao, China. The mega shop includes four giant bays allowing most of the fabrication and assembly to be done indoor which increases safety, quality, and productivity.
Jean-Marc Aubry, Project Executive Sponsor of Yamal LNG recognized QMW performance in a simple award ceremony recently. "This was a project with a challenging schedule and thanks to the personal commitment of the management of QMW, the six fractionation modules have been delivered safely, on time and to the required quality".
"We are proud to receive such recognition from the client. Thisaccomplishment demonstrates QMW's international competitiveness, reputation and quality performance in the module fabrication market," said Leong Eng Chow, General Manager, QMW.
Located at Sabetta, the Yamal LNG plant is the first LNG development venture in the Arctic with a planned total capacityof 16.5 million tons of LNG per year, and is one of the largest LNG projects in the world.
