Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan (QMW), a McDermott joint venture company, completed and delivered a jacket, bridge and suction anchor with a total weight of 1,000 MT for JORD Oil & Gas System B.V. (JOGS) on January 6, 2016 using a 2,600 MT floating crane.
“This is the first time QMW has used a floating crane for loadout activity,” said Project Manager Kevin Zhang. “The floating crane had to lift and move the 100-meter-long bridge and a 30-meter-high suction anchor 400 meters at the quayside for placement onto the vessel.”
The structures will be transported to the Cantarell field in the Bay of Campeche, Mexico to link the existing Akal-G1 platform and new compression jack-up platform. This linked structure will stimulate oil production and minimize the emission of gas under the Mexican legislation by reinjecting compressed and treated gas back into the reservoir.
